Going to San Diego!

Hey guys
I hope you all are having a great Thanksgiving. On Thursday, I was in my Future Cities teacher room finishing up some work. That took up 6th and 7th period at my school. When I was finished, I went to my last period class which was Social Studies. The girl that I sit next (Haby) showed me this random paper. When I read it I was so surprised. The paper said that she was going to San Diego for the Juinor High School Chess Nationals. I was surprised because the trip wasn't till April 2012. My heart fell. I thought that I was not going to go to San Diego which was my dream since I was told the team was going there. I wanted my Social Studies class to finish as soon as possible so I can ask my chess teacher if I am going to get the chance to go to San Diego. When the bell rang to leave 8th period class, I sprinted to my chess teacher. When I walked into hemp chess teachers room my heart was thumping! When I asked her the question, he response was, I have one saved for you. My dream have coom true. I took to the paper, said thanks to my teacher and walked relaxed back to my homeroom class. But inside, I was screaming. Thank you for reading and feel free to leave comments. Thank you

IS318 Chess Tournament

Hey guys
I came back from a chess tournament at my school IS318. By mistake, I guess my chess coach put me in the reserve section {1100 to 1500 points in chess} to challenge me. But I actually did good in the section. I got two wins and two loses. My rating right now is 926. For a kid that is not suppose to be in the Junior High School/High School section {600 to 1100 points in chess} I did good for a person that was in a section that he is not suppose to be. Leave a comment in the comments box if you can. Thank you guys for reading. You guys are the best.

Back to School

Hey guys
Well is back to school for and mostly everybody else the New York City area, sweet, for me, I don't know about anybody else. I had a great summer and now it's back to the books and going to sleep early right. But I'm actually happy that I'm going back to school because in the school that I go to I have a lot of clubs and the teachers make the classes fun for the kids. I'm a chess kind of guy and in my school they have a chess team that is the best in New York City. Also they have the future cities team that is awesome and I can't wait to start. Well if your going back to school good luck in whatever grade your going to. Enjoy, follow, bye.

Future Cities?!?!?!

Hey guys
Well I'm going to bring up a new topic called Future Cities. The Future Cities club is where a group of 3 or more kids build a city out of recyclable items and compete in a competition for a college scholarship and to go to Washington D.C. for a chance to go to Alabama for Space camp. If you would like to learn more about it here's w link where you can see a YouTube video. YouTube.com/watch?v=JzJmAtPHHao. Let explain to you the steps on what we have to do to make a good city. The first step we have to do to make a great city is to make a computer model of the city we want to make. We have to use a computers software called Sim City 4. We have to keep track of what houses we have, what stores we have, and what factories we have. What we also have to keep track of is how many people the city has, how much money we have in our city, how much air pollution we have in our city, etc. To know that your finish you need to have 50,000 and you need to have your city inspected by your engineer/teacher. If you have that done and your city is really good your city is gets submitted to the people who run the Future City competition. Submitted in Future City terms means that if your city does really good, you get to run it when the building process starts. That's means you get to do all the decision making for the city. The next step we have to do is make a 3d scale model. If you want to buy things for your city you can go over a budget of $100. The 3d scale model doesn't mean that you have to make it the exact same layout as your computer model. It can be totally different. The next stepvwe have to do is make an essay about your city. The people who run the Future City competition put out a rubric so for each paragraph we right/type we have to follow the blueprint. Usually the essay comes out to 6 paragraphs or so. The next step we have to do is make a narrative. What a narrative is one paragraph talking about the main theme of your city. The people who run the Future City competition have to come up with a teme for a city what a team has to focus on for the most. For example 2010's theme was health. The next and final step is to make a board giving out all the information about your city. For example, on your board you have your information about your health and your energy system. So I hope you like this theme today called Future Cities and if you likenthis theme here's a website you can go to. Futurecity.org. I'll be posting pictures of this theme later and I'll tell you guys about a theme tomorrow. Enjoy, follow, post a comment, bye.
